I haven't used my mac in quite a while but i'm back to using it again for work purposes. Anyway, the last time i used it i tried to update the os using the updater and i got errors during the update progress saying that it couldn't install the new version. Now that i am using my mac again i need to update the os and i am still having problems. Has anyone heard of this before? Do you know how to get around the problem? Here are my specs;

How to get updates for macOS Mojave or later
Can't Download Mac Update
If you've upgraded to macOS Mojave or later, follow these steps to keep it up to date:
If you haven’t updated an app in a while and receive this error, it’s generally not possible to download any interim update via the Mac App Store that remains compatible with your version of macOS. Go to Software Update in System Preferences to find the macOS Catalina upgrade. Click Upgrade Now and follow the onscreen instructions to begin your upgrade. If you don’t have broadband access, you can upgrade your Mac at any Apple Store.
- Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu , then click Software Update to check for updates.
- If any updates are available, click the Update Now button to install them. Or click ”More info” to see details about each update and select specific updates to install.
- When Software Update says that your Mac is up to date, the installed version of macOS and all of its apps are also up to date. That includes Safari, iTunes, Books, Messages, Mail, Calendar, Photos, and FaceTime.
To find updates for iMovie, Garageband, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and other apps that were downloaded separately from the App Store, open the App Store on your Mac, then click the Updates tab.
To automatically install macOS updates in the future, including apps that were downloaded separately from the App Store, select ”Automatically keep my Mac up to date.” Your Mac will notify you when updates require it to restart, so you can always choose to install those later.
